Where's the PC love?

I am a PC gamer.  Yes, I do own all the consoles but I spend more time on PC than anything else.  Games include, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, WoW, Left 4 Dead, Battlefield 2, Team Fortress 2 and more.  In my mind, the mouse and keyboard is far superior than the controller for movement and accuracy.  This is why a lot of people are against cross platform servers (PC vs 360 etc).  The people with the controllers whine about keyboards being overpowered and they would just get owned.  Why not just make it so mouse and keyboards work the consoles.  I know the PS3 does support this to a degree but the 360 doesn't support it at all. This way everyone can have a fair chance. (console people could buy a keyboard to keep up or they can keep their mouths shut)  I've been gaming with a mouse and keyboard for years and I'd prefer not have to re-teach myself how to play games with a controller, as I'm sure its the same way with console players.  I should be able to use a M&K on any console with no problem,  I mean heck, people can plug in a controller to the PC and it works fine. So why not the other way around?

Secondly, where are all the PC tourneys?!  I don't know how many times I hear about  CoD tourney, go and research it and it's ONLY 360.  It's  almost like the other platforms don't exist.  Ps3 gets left out a lot also.  I realize that PC gaming is harder to keep up with due to having to upgrade every few years and most people think its more expensive than a console but if you really think about it, consoles come out about every 5 years and you pay 500-600 bucks for the newest ones when they first release.  If you know how to build PCs you can build a top of the line PC for nearly the same price, maybe even less.

As for me, I can NOT stand the people on xbox live.  How many 13 year olds do I have listen to saying "oh, your mom!" or "omg, i'm gonna teabag you!".  It just gets old, it's immature and just plain annoying.  I find that there are MANY more mature PC gamers (with maybe the exception of WoW but that's a completely different subject).  Even Ps3 is more mature.

PC gamers unite!  Thank you to companies like Valve, Infinity Ward and Blizzard for keeping PC gaming alive.  I really support companies that support me!  Valve has even created a system called Steam where we can just download select games to our computers without even leaving the house, plus keeping in contact with all your friends.  I would say its the xbox live of the PC world as well as Xfire.

That is all!

America's Got Talent

I know this is a bit late, seeing the show ended a few weeks ago, but I feel I should say what I know a lot of you are feeling.  I CANT BELIEVE THAT HE WON!

Now, I knew he was going to win due to the sob story we got. He's poor, he deserved another chance, which is true, yes.  But the point of the show is to find the next VEGAS SHOW!  I'm sorry, I live in Vegas and he won't make it here.  I would not pay to see an average singer, country at that.  Recycled Percussion on the other hand are awesome and I would definitely pay to see their show!  They are a Vegas show!

Terry, the last year winner is doing great here right now and he was a Vegas show for sure.  Kevin, however, is not!  I was so mad when he won.  He's a nice person and as a great heart, but that's not the point of the show.  I can't even believe that Recycled Percussion wasn't even in the top 2.

Get your heads straight America!  Good luck Kevin, I do hope it all works out for you.  And could someone from Vegas get Recycled Percussion a show!  I'm sure their tickets would get sold out!

Avatar Movie

I can not wait for this movie!  Dec 18th!

WoW changes people

I've been an avid World of Warcraft player since release (Horde of course).  I've seen my fair share of guild break ups, drama and just plain stupidity.  What I've noticed over the years though, that really hurts me to see, is that the nicest people get corrupted by this game.

World of Warcraft is a great game, I have lots of friends in it and I still enjoy playing it after all these years, but what I don't get is why people get so obessed over purple pixels in a game.  I was gaming with this married couple for awhile (nearly 2 years) and her husband was one of the nicest people I've ever met.  Recently I began noticing them arguing a lot more and fighting over stupid stuff.  He'd begin to whine over loot if he didn't get it off the boss and cry if we just didn't have enough people on that night to raid.  One day he just up and left the guild and joined the top guild on the horde side.  Now get me wrong, I can understand wanting to see content and what not but before he left he gave a big "F**k you!" in guild chat and bailed.  Along with him went his wife and then it was a downward spiral.

What happened?  Why so hostile?  He cares so much about loot now it's just crazy.  Constantly gear checking the people left in the guild, taunting them with the new stuff he's gotten.  I don't understand how such a nice, care-free person could turn into such a douche bag because of a game!

This has happened to more than just this guy.  But he of course had the most extreme case.

Any explanations?

To future Gamestop Applicants! Please Read!

I've been with Gamestop for 3 years now.  And this blog certainly isn't going to bash the company but it may bash those who don't have a complete clue what it's like to work for them.

Gamestop is a great company.  They treat their employees well, offer great benefits, if you have a problem most likely you'll get help in some form or another.  But there are downfalls.  The hours suck.  If you're a part time employee (a Game Advisor or GA) you'll get at max like 8 hours a week in most stores, most of which will be from 5 to close.  You rarely work day shifts and, if you have another job, most of the time managers won't even look at your application.

For those of you looking to get into Gamestop as a "highschool" job, think again.  At least all the stores I've been in rarely hire "kids".  Usually its college students or people over 18 who don't have anything else to do.  Gamestop looks for people who can come in whenever they are needed and don't have other priorities.  Highschool kids may get hired during the holidays for the seasonal help but that's about it.

If you are looking to get into Gamestop for a career, let me warn you that once you get promoted to a "key-holder" (Senior Game Advisor, Asst. Manager or Store Manager). then you can forget about anything outside of work.  Your life will revolve around your job.  Especially if you're the Store Manager.  Store Managers are required to be there for ALL midnight game releases, ALL fridays and saturdays and work 44 hours a week while ONLY getting paid for 40 hours (since they are salary).  Most Managers follow the requirements in the store procedure manual and there are those who don't.  If you do follow what you're supposed to, then you can forget the time to actually play most of the games and still keep your social life.

Working for Gamestop does not mean "yay we get to play games all day" which is the most common mistake people think we get to do.  It's "yay, you get to deal with the dumbasses in the general public who treat you like dirt because they are having a bad day".  We RARELY or almost NEVER get to play any games while working.  Occasionally if the store is completely empty you can mess around on the interactive and check out a few demos.  If you don't like dealing with people, then Gamestop is not the place for you.  It's a typical retail job, just like any other.  Now, you may get to talk about games all day, but again, forget about playing them.  And most of the time it's talking to the moms and grandmas who know nothing about the games, trying to explain them what each one is and they still don't get it.

The majority of the customers come in the store angry, try to rip you off, or think they are smarter than you, especially if you're a female.  Guys assume you don't know jack shit and as I always tell them "I wouldn't work here if I didn't know what I was talking about."  The general public are full of idiots, morons and whatever else I can call them.  Sorry but it's true.  People NEVER read the receipt with the return policy and just assume you can bring back an open ps3 and return it just because "you need the money for something else".  How is that my problem?  Maybe you should've thought about that BEFORE you bought the ps3 huh?

Don't apply to Gamestop if you all you want to do is play games.  ITS NOT WHAT WE DO THERE.  You have to deal with people well, know a SHIT TON about games and how each system works.  If you just play WoW, that's not enough, if you just own an Xbox360, that's not enough.  If you're 16, that's not enough.  Go to college, get a degree and work at a real job.  Don't make the same mistake I did!

Halo 3 ODST not "OAST!"

While I'm not a big fan of the Halo series (sorry halo fanboys) I did enjoy this game.  But that's not what my blog is about!  It amazes me how many people can't pronounce this name correctly.  As most of you know, I work at Gamestop and I get to see my fair share of idiots.  I don't know how many times someone came up to the counter asking for Halo 3 Odyssey or better yet Halo 3 "Oast".  Seriously, WTF?!  These weren't children, these were grown adults who I know have been through school.  First example...

Guy 1: "Hi, I'd like to pre-order the new Halo 3: "Oast".
Me: "You mean O.D.S.T?"
Guy 1: "Oh is that what it is?"
Me: "Um yea.  Do you want to know what it stands for?"
Guy 1: "Nah, I'm just gonna play it online with my friends anyway."

I mean, yea, Halo is popular for online play.  But the fact that you don't even know the title of the game, anything its about or even how to pronounce it and you're buying it just because your friends are!  Blah!  Example 2...

Guy 2: "I want to put money on Halo Odyssey."
Me: "Which game?"
Guy 2: "The new halo"
Me: "You mean, Halo 3: O.D.S.T?"
Guy 2: "Yea that."
Me: "Do you want to know what it stands for?"
Guy 2: "Nope, it's got Halo in the title, that's enough for me.  As long as it's not like Halo Wars."

Um, so you're buying a game just because Halo is in the title.  No research at all and you don't even know the full title.  Maybe it's just me, but I like to research games before buying them.  I don't know how many people bought Halo Wars just because Halo was in the title and then ended up hating it because it wasn't an FPS.  RESEARCH IT PEOPLE!  And before you walk into a game store and make a complete fool of yourself, learn what the title of the game is as well!

It's not Grand theft auto i. v.  It's Grand Theft Auto 4!  It's not the Wii 2. It's not the W. I .I.  It's just the Wii!  Come on people, give me a break!
